ABC cuts out: Moment TV network mysteriously stops working
Viewers have been left scratching their heads after ABC News cut out midway through a bulletin.
Instead of the news, the visual switched to a basic image at about 11.25am on Monday with the message: “ABC News will return to scheduled programming shortly”.
The broadcast was down for about eight minutes, sparking concern among viewers.
“Channel 24 has died??? Not a good look,” one person wrote on social media.
Anyone who tuned in for the news during the blackout period was treated to rotating images of the Australian landscape.
When the bulletin returned, a weather forecaster was completing his outlook for the day.
“Staying fine,” he concluded, before the program continued into the news headlines.
ABC anchor Gemma Veness issued an apology to viewers affected by the mysterious interruption.
“We want to apologise here for some of those technical difficulties which affected our news bulletin, it’s good to have you back with us,” she told viewers.
It’s not clear what caused the issue.
