Australia’s electric van market is set to expand, with Chinese giant Geely’s Farizon Auto commercial vehicle brand arriving in the coming months.

Farizon Auto late last year it announced its expansion into right-hand drive markets such as the UK.

That’s now continued with Saudi Arabian-based Jameel Motors signing an agreement to distribute Farizon’s electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia.

Farizon will arrive with the Supervan (SV) cargo van and the H9E truck, both of which Jameel Motors says will be available to purchase in the first half of 2025. It hasn’t announced when customer deliveries will begin.

The Farizon SV is likely to be the brand’s volume seller, and has already been approved for sale by the Australian Government.

Jameel is yet to officially confirm local specifications, however its modular platform supports three battery pack sizes – 68kWh, 83kWh and 106kWh, all of which have been green-lit.

UK versions have a claimed 400km driving range with the 83kWh battery, while the 106kWh pack increases this to 558km.

A 170kW front-mounted electric motor is standard across the range.

A handful of variants have been approved for sale with differing dimensions:

Those dimensions place it in the realm of the LDV eDeliver 7, which is available in short- and long-wheelbase forms, the latter of which offers a taller roof.

It appears the Farizon SV will also be available with or without windows on its sliding side doors. All versions of the electric van will have 16-inch wheels.

More information about the Farizon SV is expected to be announced closer to its local launch.

Jameel will also bring the Farizon H9E truck to Australia in short- and long-wheelbase guises, with GVMs of 4500kg and 8000kg.

Farizon’s arrival in Australia will come at almost the same time as parent company Geely’s namesake brand, which will launch with the EX5 SUV during the first half of 2025.

They’ll join other Geely-owned brands Lotus, Polestar, Smart, Volvo and Zeekr.
