Albany Basketball Association make two semifinals at the Basketball WA State Championships
Albany Basketball Association made two semifinals in week three of the Basketball WA State Championships in Perth at the weekend.
Although none of the teams made the grand final, there were plenty of encouraging signs for Albany.
All four teams finished in the top three of their respective pools after their regular fixtures.
The under-17 division two side went through their regular games undefeated to finish on top of their pool.
They played Bunbury in the semifinal and were down by one point at half-time.
They weren’t able to stick with their opponents in the second half, losing 31-47 to Bunbury who went on to win the grand final.
The under-17 division three boys side also finished on top of the table after winning three of their four regular games.
Albany came up against Eaton in the semifinal but were unable to progress to the grand final as they went down 24-33.
Albany also had an under-19 boys team in action.
The team only came together for the State championships but they were unable to make the grand final.
The under-19 boys side only lost one regular game to finish second.
They lost their semifinal clash against Bunbury 40-68.
Bunbury went on to the win the grand final against Binar.
Albany finished third in the under-11 division two boys competition after winning half of their games.
