Media baron Rupert Murdoch is set to get hitched for a fifth time at 92 years old.

On Monday, Mr Murdoch revealed he was engaged to his 66-year-old girlfriend Ann-Lesley Smith, who is a one-time police chaplain and widow of US country music star Chester Smith.

The news comes just six months after the couple met and less than a year since he divorced from his fourth wife, Jerry Hall.

The pair met at his vineyard Moraga in Bel Air, California, and he said he called her two weeks later.

He proposed on St Patrick’s Day in New York with an Asscher-cut diamond solitaire, which he personally selected.

The billionaire said he was confident this would be his last marriage.

“I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy,” he told the New York Post.

“We’re both looking forward to spending the second half of our lives together.”

The wedding is expected to be held around August.

Mr Murdoch has been divorced four times. He was married to former flight attendant Patricia Booker from 1956 to 1967 and journalist Anna Torv from 1967 to 1998. He then married Chinese-born entrepreneur Wendy Deng, 38 years his junior, but filed for divorce in 2013.

Mr Murdoch married Ms Hall, former long-term partner of Rolling Stone Sir Mick Jagger, two months after the surprise announcement of their engagement in The Times in 2016. The former model, 66, filed for divorce in July 2022.
