Carlos Dann Glauser, an Under 11 player from Broome, was awarded the best and fairest award at this year’s Country Week tournament, marking a proud moment for the town’s soccer community.

Glauser’s standout performance highlighted the emerging talent from Broome as three teams from the Broome Soccer Association competed in the annual Perth-based tournament for the first time.

The event, held from October 23 to 27, saw more than 1000 young soccer mad players from 12 regional associations take part with 74 teams competing across seven divisions.

Broome’s teams, representing Under 11, Under 13, and Under 15 age groups, put up a strong showing throughout the five-day competition.

It represented a significant milestone for the Broome Soccer Association, as it marked the first time three teams had been sent to Perth for the event, a testament to the town’s growing soccer community.

While none of the Broome teams made the grand final, the teams had some strong wins throughout the week, playing in 24 games over the competition.

For many of the players, this wasn’t their first taste of competitive football.

Earlier in the year, they had played in the North West Championships in Karratha, which helped prepare them for the rigours of Country Week.

Sponsorships from Broome International Airport, Kullari, Ray White, DC Data Comms, Leidos, and Kimberley Branding helped fund the teams’ participation.
