BDCA men’s: Second hundred of season from Bradman May leads Dalyellup to nine-wicket win over Leschenault

A second hundred of the season from Bradman May saw Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association men’s first-grade ladder-leaders Dalyellup cruise to a nine-wicket win over Leschenault at Leschenault Recreation Ground on Saturday. In pursuit of the hosts’ total of 179, the competition’s leading run scorer hit 13 boundaries and four sixes in his 116 not out from 98 deliveries as his side chased the target with nearly 19 overs to spare. Having scored 555 runs at an average of 92.5 for the season, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter has more than doubled the aggregate of his closest challenger, teammate Jaxon Cornford, who has scored 243 runs. Vinnie Poller played a supporting role in the match-winning unbroken 173-run second-wicket stand, finishing on 48 not out from 67 balls. In the first innings, Dalyellup also showed off their bowling depth, with spinners Jaiah Moore (3-28 from 10 overs) and Izaak Bedford (2-16 from 10 overs) supported by veteran seamers Liam Renton (2-29 from seven overs) and Zane Verhaaf (2-30 from 10 overs). Leschenault’s No.9 Jacob Templeton walked to the crease at 7-117 but ensured his side posted a competitive total by making 41 from 44 balls. Second-placed Colts got back on the winners’ list on Saturday with a 43-run win over Hay Park at Bunbury Recreation Ground. Batting first, the hosts put a score of 199 on the board, built on an 86-run fifth-wicket stand between Tim Hutchison (56 from 95 balls) and Adam France (45 from 59 balls). Spinners Fida Hussain (3-21 from seven overs) and Lucas Pedrochi (2-7 from 3.2 overs) struck regularly at the back end of the innings for Hay Park to ensure Colts did not post a larger total. The reigning premiers applied their trademark squeeze to the Redbacks in the chase, keeping things tight before bowling them out for 156 in the 46th over. Young gun Jaxon Magennis was impressive in his third first-grade game, taking 3-31 from 10 overs, while spinners Morgan Baxter (3-42 from nine overs) and Clayton Caltsounis (2-35 from 10 overs) also played their parts. At Forrest Park, Marist proved too good for Collie, winning by 148 runs. The hosts posted a total of 6-281 in the first innings in Saturday’s match, with Haydn Slodecki (65 from 75 balls) doing the hard work early before Brayden Clarke (68 not out from 56 balls) cashed in late. Max Ireland bowled all his 10 overs at the top of the innings and was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, taking 2-36. Collie stayed within reach of their required run rate but never seriously threatened their target, being bowled out for 133 in the 29th over. Opening bowlers Daniel Lomax and Michael Chappell both finished with figures of 3-31 for the hosts.
