Jet ski hoons allegedly endangered swimmers lives before one man assaulted a police officer at a boat ramp, cops say

Jet ski hoons allegedly rode “dangerously close” to swimmers at a popular snorkelling spot, with one of the men later allegedly assaulting a police officer at a nearby boat ramp. The incident unfolded at Half Moon Bay in Melbourne’s southeast when officers patrolling the area allege they saw the rider of a jet ski speeding in a no boating zone about 3pm on Saturday. Police allege the jet ski rider narrowly missed people in the water. Three men were later arrested at a boat ramp where police allege one of the men assaulted an officer. A police spokesperson said a 21-year old man from Craigieburn will be charged with endangering life, a 22-year old man from Fawkner will be charged with hindering police and a 24-year old man from Hatfield will be charged with assaulting police. The spokesperson said all three men will be charged on summons. “The Marine Investigation Unit is also investigating allegations of linked offending from earlier in the day,” a spokesperson said. “Jet ski hoon behaviour will be targeted as part of a wider operation with the projection of increased boating activity this summer.” Anyone with information, video footage, or who saw the alleged offending is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
