Lord of the Rings set to transform Crown Theatre from March 19 with Aussie star Jemma Rix taking the stage

For the acclaimed musical theatre star Jemma Rix — who plays Galadriel in the new Lord of the Rings musical — the best part about performing in Perth is the atmosphere.
“There’s a sort of energy about it being in a casino where there’s people really wanting to have a good time,” she said.
The Lord of the Rings — A Musical Tale will transform Crown Theatre Perth into Middle Earth from March 19, taking the audience on an unforgettable quest full of music and entertainment.
According to Ms Rix, the show is suitable for avid fans of the J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy and newcomers who want to experience the story for the first time.
“I think we can all relate to the hobbit story, so you don’t need to know, or be privy to any form of the books or the film. You will be taken on a journey, and you will thoroughly enjoy it,” Ms Rix said.
More often than not, it’s an orchestra’s job to bring music to life, but with the Lord of the Rings performance, the actors will play the instruments themselves.
“You’re seeing the multi-talented company swapping different instruments, playing different instruments throughout. And so everything that you hear you actually get to see and witness on stage,” Ms Rix said.
“It feels really organic and just more impactful.”
Ms Rix — who previously stared in Wicked — has performed at crown multiple times and loves WA.
The Australian star said she is “so excited to be back in Perth” and can’t wait for West Aussies to see the performance.
The Lord of the Rings — a Musical Tale stars include Rix as Galadriel, Ian Stenlake as Saruman, Rob Mallett as Strider and Rarmian Newtonas Frodo Baggins.
The Lord of the Rings is on at Crown Theatre from March 19.
