Aces and Spoonbills grab big wins in latest round of Manjimup basketball
The Aces and the Spoonbills each had a memorable night after registering the biggest wins in the women and men’s divisions for round 12 of the Manjimup Basketball Association.
In the women’s A-division the Aces demolished the Vipers with a 42-point margin, with the final score line reading 66-24 to the victors.
The Comets and the Pinks Ladies match also had a sizeable score line with the former eventually winning 54-30.
In the men’s top competition the undefeated Barracudas lost their first match of the season against the Hawks A squad in a very close match, 46-44.
Elsewhere, the Cobras eased past the Wolfpack by 13 points, 48-35.
In the women’s A-reserve bracket the Mystics defeated the Senators Maroon/Yellow squad by 12 points, the finals score line reading 34-26.
The Saints just managed to hold off the Diamonds in another very close match which ended in favour of the Saints, 23-21.
And the Slam Dunks won their bout against the Magpies Orange team, 31-23.
In the men’s A-reserve competition the Hawks B team and the Giants managed to pull off a rare draw as both sides registered 39 points a piece.
Unfortunate circumstances led to the Raiders and the Dingos abandoning their match due to the Bridgetown fires and the basketball stadium being used as evacuation centre.
In the women’s B-grade, the Panthers toppled the Senators Blue/Green team by eight points to come away with a 36-28 win.
In a match up against former friends, the Aus Stars Purple team narrowly defeated the Aus Stars Green squad 30-24.
While the Bush chooks comfortably pushed past the Magpies Blue squad 37-17.
In the men’s B-grade the Spoonbills destroyed the Yabbies in only their second win of the season by a massive 35-point margin, 56-21.
And the Warriors defeated the Imperials 36-33 in another very tight game.
