Backyard dinner raises funds for MND
A fundraising dinner in Manjimup raised almost $10,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association WA on Saturday night.
The dinner was held in Manjimup couple Sonia and Luke Porter’s backyard and about 40 people attended.
Mrs Porter’s father has MND and she said the dinner was a way of giving back to the association.
“Not only for what they do for my family, but for others too,” she said.
The ticketed event included a three-course meal, live entertainment by Table for Two Trio and auctions throughout the night.
While Mr and Mrs Porter were aiming to raise between $5000 and $6000, they ended up raising $9830.
“We still have more donations coming in, I’m overwhelmed with everyone’s support,” Mrs Porter said.
“It was a fabulous night and an amazing result.”
The couple is looking to hold the dinner every two years.
