Barbershop visit pays Finals dividend
A $20 haircut has led to a Manjimup man winning two tickets to the 2019 AFL Grand Final.
The West Australian Regional Newspapers Group’s annual competition to win two tickets to the AFL Grand Final was won by Aaron Smith.
His prize includes return flights to Melbourne, three nights accommodation at the Mercure Hotel and two reserved seats at the AFL Grand Final on September 28.
Mr Smith thanked the West Australian Regional Newspapers Group for running the competition.
“I haven’t won much in my life and this is one of the best things you can win,” he said.
“When I found out, I was amazed — I was shocked and speechless.
“This is the best $20 I’ve ever spent.”
An avid football fan and Eagles supporter, Mr Smith said he could not wait to take his partner across to Melbourne for the game.
“I definitely want to see the West Coast Eagles in the Grand Final,” he said.
“If it could be with Collingwood that would be great, as it would be a rematch from last year.”
Mr Smith’s winning docket was one of thousands across 14 West Australian Regional Newspapers Group titles across the State.
His entry was from his haircut at the Manjimup Men’s Barber Shop.
“We’ve participated in this competition for about three years now,” owner Tracy Carlow said.
“We get quite a few tickets a day and since I get a few out-of-town clients, it’s great to see a local win it.”
“I’m rapt that it happened here in my store.”
Ms Carlow said she would continue participating in the grand final competition.
