The Bridgetown Cidery has continuing its long-standing record of success at the Royal Perth Beer Show, taking two silver medals this year.

The two beers it entered into the show, Blackwood Valley Special Bitter and Blackwood Valley Nut Brown, were both awarded silver medals in the Pale Ale Draught - British Style Pale Ale and Amber Ale - Dark Ale Draught - Dark categories respectively.

The Cidery is used to achieving success at the Royal Perth Beer Show, having won more than 60 medals since recruiting Mark Hollett as brewer 15 years ago.

Owner John Lucey praised Mr Hollett for his accomplishments as a brewer.

“Winning over 60 medals over the years is an indication that Mark is an amazing brewer,” he said.

Mr Lucey said it was a great achievement to win a medal for each of the beers.

“The Special Bitter has previously won two gold, two silver and five bronze, so it’s great to see it is still up there with the best in the State at the Perth Royal Beer Show,” he said.

“The Nut Brown is a seasonal beer that Mark makes and that has previously won three bronzes, so it is hopefully on its way to a gold.”

The medal system at the Royal Perth Beer Show sees a beer awarded a medal if it reaches a certain number of points, meaning multiple beers can win medals in a class.
