Big field tees off for tournament

The Manjimup Country Club held the 43rd JB Ipsen Memorial Golf Tournament at the weekend with a good attendance of players from across the State from Port Hedland to Esperance.

The event started with a 4BBB competition on Friday which was sponsored by Danny Chadwick, representing Elders Insurance Manjimup.

The women’s winners were Penny Tweedie and Jenny Aird from Boyup Brook, with 49 stableford points on a countback from Robyn Kristoffersson and Leah Maloney.

The men’s winners were Manjimup players Rodney Oliver and Charlie Baker with 47 points also on a countback from Shaun Amiss and Peter Snook from Busselton and in third was Michael Theobald and Jack Sergeant with 46 points.

The tournament was held on Saturday and Sunday which was sponsored by Glenn Paterson from Cape to Cape Insurance Services.

The women’s winner over the two days was Joh Perry with 46 stableford points from Sharon Longbottom on 75 points.

Pauline Morrison from Binningup had the best score on Saturday of 40 points, with Judy Dimitriou having the best score on Sunday of 39 points on a countback from Kerry DeCampo.

The men’s stroke nett winner over the two days was John Hutchison from Manjimup with 134, second was Aaron Pedlar with 136 and third was Andrew Kristoffersson with 138 on a countback from David Love.

The veteran nett winner was Paul Longbottom with 141 and the vintage nett winner was Arthur Reeve with 140.

The best nett on Saturday was Shayne Boothey from Narrogin with 65 and on Sunday was Peter McLauglin from the Vines with 68.

The men’s stroke gross winner over the two days was Jeff Ahn, from Hartfield, with 150, closely followed by Wayne Edwards with 151.

The gross winner for Saturday was Evan Sewell with 78 and for Sunday it was Ross Wheeler from Dunsborough Lakes with 72.

Congratulations to Joh Perry and John Hutchinson on being the overall winners of the tournament.
