Books come alive for children in Balingup
The seventh annual Telling Tales drew hundreds of people to Balingup to see much-loved book characters come to life.
Close to 350 children attended the two-day event to participate in storytelling sessions, creative writing workshops, author and illustrator workshops, bookbinding sessions, songwriting, kite making and more.
“It was the best ever Telling Tales,” event co-organiser Helen Christensen said.
“We had people come from as far as Kalgoorlie and Esperance.”
Mrs Christensen said feedback had been positive with the grand parade a popular drawcard featuring characters such as The Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Peter Pan and Captain Hook.
A host of published WA authors and illustrators, including Norman Jorgenson, Elaine Forrestal, Gabriel Evans, Cristy Burne and Josh Langley presented interactive workshops.
