Budding musos let their hair down
Aspiring musicians from Boyup Brook District High School had a chance to strut their stuff in front of their peers at the school’s social last week.
Four bands, consisting of Year 7 to 10 students in the School of Rock program performed.
Deputy principal and music teacher Renee Knapp said the social provided a great opportunity to showcase the program.
“I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see some of our students up on the big stage one day, as many of them are now playing live in the community and writing their own original songs,” she said.
“It was wonderful to see the students laughing, having fun and enjoying the live music.”
Jesse Knapp played lead guitar for one of the bands and said he was looking forward to another opportunity to perform.
“I love being part of the bands, we learn songs and get to play in bands with our mates,” he said.
Fellow program member Year 8 Rose Guazelli said it was an exciting opportunity.
“It was so exciting to perform in front of all of the students and to show them all of the hard work we have been doing in our School of Rock class and how much our skills have developed,” she said.
Mrs Knapp said the program was part of her late colleague John Roberts’ legacy.
