Cops put pedals to pavement

Manjimup police officer-in-charge Sgt Isaac Rinaudo has returned to his post after completing a bike ride to raise money for Police Legacy.

The annual Karratha to Broome Police Legacy Bike Ride was held earlier this month and involved two teams covering 420km each of the total 840km.

Police Legacy is a charity that supports the 385 police widows, six widowers and 52 children.

It is the second time Sgt Rinaudo has participated in the event as a rider.

“I have done support for the ride four times,” he said.

“Being support involves driving the lead vehicle or being on the mini bus.

“That job is the most demanding, it’s a different type of tiring than riding.”

The mini bus stops along the ride ever 10km to pick up any riders who need a break.

Sgt Rinaudo rode a total of 164km this year and said it was great to see friends he had made over his years of involvement.

“Policing is a small organisation, so there were people I’d worked with over the years,” he said.

The ride was held from August 14-18 and the end coincided with the Broome Cup.
