Schools across the lower South West got into the spirit of Book Week, with dress-up parades and other activities to celebrate Australian authors and illustrators and the joy of reading.

Each year since 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia.

This year’s theme of Dreaming With Eyes Open encouraged readers to explore their own story and the story of others, taking children on a journey into other perspectives and new topics.

The week included many book-related activities, including Manjimup Senior High School’s red carpet parade, East Manjimup Primary School’s Dreamtime animal scavenger hunt, Northcliffe District High School P&C’s annual Celebrity Story Night, and the Manjimup Library interactive workshops with Noongar author Alton Walley.
