Kin Kin Rodeo action thrills crowd

Despite the threat of bad weather, dedicated fans showed up to the fast-paced action of the Kin Kin Retreat Rodeofest event on Saturday.

The night, which is run under the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association, consisted of novice and professional events including saddle bronc, bareback, steer and bull rides and barrel racing.

Rodeo director Rod Caddies said feedback from the event had been positive.

“We’re hoping to bring back the event to Manjimup and make it an annual thing,” he said.

“We’ve already got a great selection of State and national competitors so we’re going to try and get some international riders for the next event.”

Fifteen-year-old rider Jack Collins won the novice bull ride event allowing him to move into the professional division for future rides.

Nullarbor rider Jeremiah Day won the professional division open bull ride event.

The night also included live music, face painting, food and country clothing item stalls.
