Manjimup Lions club commemorate Lions Australia’s 75th anniversary

The Manjimup Lions Club commemorated the 75th anniversary of Lions Australia last Friday with a tree planting at the Lions Remembrance Garden at the Manjimup Timber Park.

Since the first club was formed in Lismore in 1947, the organisation has grown to be one of the largest service club organisations across the nation committed to serving their communities and improving the lives of others.

Manjimup siblings George, 7, Penelope, 6, and Tabitha,4, Howe, worked together to plant the two eucalyptus trees that will one day fill the garden with beautiful red flowers.

MLC president Paddy Pemberton said the club wished to mark the significant occasion with a tree planting that future generations could enjoy.

Mr Pemberton said the organisation felt it was important to commemorate the occasion Australia-wide in this way to highlight their commitment to the environment and to improving the communities in which we live.

He said he welcomed any new members during this milestone year.

“We’re all about having fun and doing good, so please get involved and join us so we can continue to keep our community well and functioning into the future,” he said.

Mr Pemberton said he would also like to thank the shire for their support on the project.
