The Manjimup Rovers claimed a huge scalp at the weekend with a mighty win over the third-placed Dalyellup FC in the South West Soccer Association division one men’s competition.

The Rovers travelled to Dalyellup on Sunday and came away with a 5-1 win — just their second of the year.

Manjimup again fielded just 10 players but attacked with confidence from the first whistle and held the ball for good periods.

Rovers were able to strike first from a corner through Tack Burns, before Cak Rashid netted their second and Burns scored again through a penalty to give the visitors a 3-0 lead heading into the half-time break.

Dalyellup scored first to start the second half, but Jamie Mair was able to weave his way through the box to extend the lead to 4-1.

Rovers scored last when Stephen Burch put a long ball in the path of Christopher King, who battled with the Dalyellup keeper for the ball, then passed it to Tom Anstey who put it away.

The men will play away again on the weekend against the Bunbury Dynamos.
