Manjimup Rovers women lose to Busselton in South West Soccer Association, while men go down to Eaton-Dardanup

The Manjimup Rovers women went down to Busselton City at the weekend in an incredible goal-fest which was sure to have turned heads across the competition. Playing away from home, the Rovers went down 9-8 against Busselton in the bottom-of-the-table clash at the weekend. Despite an incredible six goals from Alicia Gluck and two from Delyth Phillips Johns, Manjimup could not claim the points, handing Busselton their second win of the year. The Manjimup men suffered a 12-goal turnaround from last week against Eaton-Dardanup, going down 9-0. The Rovers were confident going into the clash after beating Eaton-Dardanup 5-2 last week to make it six wins in seven matches. But this time the Rovers took to the field with 10 players and an injury after 20 minutes saw them play out the first half with just nine players. Manjimup did their best in the first half to keep their opposition at bay and trailed 2-0 at half-time before the onslaught began. Goalkeeper Craig Emslie and defender Ben Loughran were named as the Rovers’ best for their tireless efforts to keep the Eaton-Dardanup attackers at bay. This weekend the Rovers will host the ladder-leading Harvey Hawks Two. Manjimup are yet to beat the Hawks side this year, with an 8-2 loss in round 14 at home and a 10-0 loss in Harvey in round 6. The ladies side will host Blackwood United on Sunday. Last time the two sides met, the Rovers fell just short of Blackwood, losing 4-3.
