New chapter as libraries open

Book lovers rejoice because the Shire of Manjimup’s libraries are open for business.

As part of COVID-19 phase two restrictions, shire staff have decided to reopen various shire facilities and amenities to the public.

Libraries are now allowed 20 people at a time, however the number may be lower in smaller libraries.

Manjimup shire president Paul Omodei said library staff were looking forward to welcoming back borrowers.

“We know that our patrons have been patiently waiting for libraries to reopen so that they can return borrowed items and select new ones,” he said.

“We have a great selection of new materials including new book releases, biographies, audiobooks, board games, puzzles and magazines ready to go.”

There are still some restrictions in place, such as the ongoing suspension of activities such as Rhyme and Story Time and book clubs.

There is also no access to public PCs, printing, study/reading spaces or charging facilities.

The study hub is open by appointment only.
