New festival format proving popular

Nannup tourism bloomed at the weekend as people turned out for the new-look Nannup Flower and Garden Festival.

The new format is the result of COVID-19 and instead of one weekend, the event will be held through to next month.

At the weekend, highlights included open gardens and a mandala floral sculpture.

Festival coordinator Jo O’Dea said the committee was thrilled with the response from the wider community.

“It’s hard to know how many people were in town, but there were a lot of people on Friday, we were inundated on Saturday and a steady flow on Sunday,” she said.

“The shire is happy with how things are going, as are the local businesses.”

Mrs O’Dea said upcoming highlights people could look forward to included presentations by Costa Georgiadis and Millie Ross, as well as Nannup’s own Dr Bob Longmore.

“There are also the open gardens that people can enjoy, as well as market stalls each weekend,” she said.

“The tulips in town also look amazing, to get the best of the tulips, get down here in the next four weeks.

“Remember it is nature, we can’t guarantee how long the flowers will be blooming.”
