New installation gets kids revved up for outdoor play

Students at Boyup Brook’s St Mary’s Catholic Primary School have a new unorthodox piece of playground equipment to enjoy, a 1957 Land Rover.

Installed by Cam Atherton and modified by principal Ronan Kelly and Ross Parker, the school hopes the car will spark children’s imaginations.

“It’s a really good base for imaginative play,” Mr Kelly said.

“Boys and girls alike have been all over it since they’ve come back to school, which is really good, they’ve responded well to it.”

Mr Kelly said the car had been well received by students and parents. “There has been very positive feedback from our kids and our parents about the car, it’s been great,” he said.

The school is holding a competition to name the car, to be judged by the school’s Parents and Friends Association.
