New team steps out for charity walk
Get your comfortable walking shoes on for the annual Walk for Cancer on Sunday morning.
Under organisation from new team Laura Waistell, Sharon De Campo and Amity Burford, the walk will this year begin outside Woolworths at 8am.
In preparation for the walk, the ladies teamed up with the Manjimup Apex Club on Saturday to hold a sausage sizzle and raffle outside Woolworths to raise money and awareness.
“With the sausage sizzle, raffle and donations from people, we raised about $1500 on Saturday,” Ms Waistell said.
“We’re really, really happy with it, the charity in Manjimup is just amazing.”
Ms Waistell encouraged people to dress colourfully for the walk, which will finish at Fonty’s Pool, with a sausage sizzle and fruit available.
Ms Waistell said she had received a lot of good feedback ahead of the walk and hoped hundreds of people would turn out.
“We have to thank the walk’s original organisers Barbara Hunter, Terri Moss and Tania Burford,” she said.
Entry is $10 and registrations will open at 7.30am on Sunday morning.
There will be a free bus back to Woolworths.
All money will go to Cancer Council WA.
