Music lovers raised more than $2000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service by turning out to Jazz in the Jarrah on Saturday.

More than 200 people turned out for “the most popular” Jazz in the Jarrah and raised $2275.35, according to organisers.

The event was organised by the Manjimup Lions Club and opened with Table 4 Two Trio before the 24-piece Australian Army Band played.

“Manjimup Lions would particularly like to thank everyone for attending and donating so generously,” co-organiser Alan Lloyd said.

Mr Lloyd also thanked the event’s sponsors and urged people to join the Lions club so they could help plan next year’s event.

“Continuing with this event is going to be very challenging for the current small group of senior Lions, for example, the likelihood that construction works for the Sandra Donovan Sound Shell will be under way, will be a venue challenge,” he said.

“New people with new enthusiasm and ideas are needed to join the planning committee to help with the selection of the bands, secure sponsorship and recruit volunteers to help set up the event to ensure Jazz in the Jarrah can continue as a free admission event.”
