School embraces Book Week

Last week, students and staff from Manjimup Senior High School dressed up as their favourite book, movie or video game characters to celebrate Book Week.

There were many different characters wandering the school, including Robin Hood, Oscar the Grouch, the Mad Hatter, the Cat in the Hat and more.

English teacher Linda Rodgers was one of the organisers and helped to coordinate a Book Week parade.

“We had about 30 to 40 kids dress up and then the staff as well, I really encouraged the whole school to get involved and have a bit of fun,” she said.

“The parade is a great way for students who want to enter to show off who they came dressed as and maybe win a prize.”

The parade was split into year 7 to 9 and year 10 to 12, with a first, second and third place prize awarded in each age group.

Winners received a gift voucher for the Manjimup Newsagency.

In years 7 to 9, Bailey Cooper won first place, followed by Tahya Johnson and Ayden Castlehow.

In year 10 to 12, first place went to Amber Castlehow, followed by Delton Jacobs and Jess Read.
