More than 100 photographers from across WA gathered in Pemberton at the weekend for the Western Australian Photographic Federation’s annual convention.

2020 Southern Forests PhotoWest delivered a four-day program which offered a taste of the best of the region’s photographic experiences, including sunrises and sunsets in iconic locations, Pemberton’s heritage sites, birdlife and wildflowers.

“It is the largest photographic convention for amateur photographers in Australia in 2020,” Nikon WA/SA sales manager Michael Phillips said.

The keynote speaker for PhotoWest was renowned photographer Tony Hewitt.

Hosted by the Southern Forests Photography Club, PhotoWest offered workshops by WA photographers Micahel Goh, Georgina Steytler, Seng Mah, Johannes Reinhart, Brad Keyser and experienced guides Christine Wilder and Margaret Taylor Jakobson.

The WAPF PrintWest competition awards were announced at a dinner at the Pemberton Mill Hall on Saturday night.

WA Underwater Camera Club member Amanda Blanksby won the individual colour award and Perth-based WA Camera Club member Jocelyn Manning won the individual mono sections.

The WA Camera Club took out the first place club – mono award, and the WA Underwater Camera Club won first place in the club – colour category.
