Squad salvages quality TVshow out of regional visit

Former Quinninup man Luke Purdy returned to the region last week for the filming of his 7mate television show Aussie Salvage Squad.

Mr Purdy and his team were in Quinninup on Wednesday and Manjimup on Thursday as part of filming for season two of the television show.

Filmed through Fredbird Entertainment, Aussie Salvage Squad follows Mr Purdy’s team from Geographe Bay Marine Salvage as they undertake land and sea salvage work.

The segments filmed in Quinninup and Manjimup last week will be featured in an episode together when season two airs in 2020.

Aussie Salvage Squad filmed on site at the Quinninup Eco Tourist Park and co-owner Pam Purdy said the retrieved tractor had been stuck in the bush around the park for about eight months.

“We’ve had that tractor for 20 plus years,” she said.

“We had it down there for firebreaks this year and we could just not get it out of there.”

Fredbird executive producer Craig Graham said the company was thrilled to be making another series of Aussie Salvage Squad.

“Series 2 will be driven by exciting new changes, including bigger disasters, bigger machinery, new characters, new high-stakes financial jeopardy and new extreme land-based missions,” he said.

7mate head of content Billy Betts said Aussie Salvage Squad delivered strong results.
