Eight schools in the region came together this month for a Spellademic to improve and compare students’ spelling ability.

Hosted by East Manjimup Primary School at Warren Valley Community Church, 66 students across 11 teams participated in five rounds of a giant spelling test.

“It was the first opportunity for inter-school competition, that I know of, for 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions,” East Manjimup deputy principal Bianca Prosser said.

The Year 3-4 competition was tightly contested, with four teams entering the tie-breaker rounds.

East Manjimup Primary School Team 2 came first in the Year 3-4 competition, second went to Bridgetown Primary School Team 1 and third went to Manjimup Primary School Team 1.

It was also a tight competition in the Year 5-6 competition, with a tie-breaker needed to determine first and second place.

Manjimup Primary School Team 2 came out on top, followed by classmates Year 5-6 Manjimup Primary School Team 1.

Third went to Bridgetown Primary School Team 1.
