Up a tree for cause

The Pemberton region got a famous and furry visitor recently as Fat Cat arrived to raise awareness of Telethon 2019.

As part of the fundraising efforts for Telethon, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Fat Cat used the visit to showcase his new colouring and activity books.

The books are full of puzzles, facts and other activities. They also give children aged from 3-10 years a fun way to learn about the State’s favourite tourist destinations.

During his Statewide tour to raise awareness for Telethon, Fat Cat visited — and took a few steps up — the Gloucester Tree.

Despite being an animal that is often found up in trees, Fat Cat is only seven and admitted to being a little afraid of heights so he did not make it all the way to the top.

Fat Cat also visited the RAC Karri Valley Resort, where he checked out the facilities, including a boat ride around Lake Beedelup, feeding the farm animals and meeting guests.

There are two colouring books to choose from and they are $3 each. The book project is supported by RAC Parks and Resorts and Puma Energy.

West Australians have raised more than $306 million through Telethon for children in the State since 1968.

The money raised has helped make significant advances in treating some of the life threatening diseases that face our children today.
