‘Challenges’ explain Prince Harry snubbing friend, godfather Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding after William scores gig
It’s the society wedding of the year — and it has already sparked weeks of speculation over why Prince Harry has refused to attend.
Now sources claim to have solved the mystery, saying he decided to miss the nuptials of Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, after realising “the challenges of his attendance”.
Both Harry and his estranged brother William are friends of the duke, who will marry Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral this week.
It had previously been claimed Harry refused to attend when he learned William, who is set to be an usher, had been offered a prominent role.
But sources have now said that Harry and the duke, who is godfather to his son Archie, mutually made the decision.
People magazine said: “There was an acknowledgment on both sides that it would be difficult for Harry to attend.”
“(It) certainly avoided the inevitable clamour had (both brothers) attended the nuptials.”
