Beloved Manjimup and Pemberton stalwart remembered as loving family man with contagious smile and strong faith

A Manjimup and Pemberton community stalwart has been remembered as a loving family man with a contagious smile and strong faith. Glenn Ebsary died in the early hours of Thursday morning and leaves behind six children, his loving wife Lisa, grandchildren, and his extended family. His loved ones told the Times there wasn’t a good deed Glenn wouldn’t do. His children Jamie, Paul and Chris De Freitas, along with Emma, Samuel and Joshua Ebsary told the Times their father was “as good of a bloke as you could get”. “He was genuine, down-to-earth, generous, kind and so smart,” they said. “He was a family man through and through. He loved without hesitation, but always knew how to pull you up on your bulls.... “He was involved in almost every nook and cranny of the Manjimup and Pemberton communities. He was a man of strong faith, and through his love for God served the church and community in many ways.” Glenn served on school boards, parish councils and youth groups, as well as community committees. He supported local businesses, and for many years worked at the beloved Manjimup Meat Mart butcher shop. “He was known as the friendly butcher who just had a way with people,” his family said. “Whether that be with an infectious happy smile, a small chat about the day, or his genuine kindness that was felt deeply by everyone. “In his spare time, Dad gravitated toward spending time with the family, cracking a joke with the neighbours or being a local on-call handyman. There was no good deed he wasn’t up to doing.” The Manjimup Meat Mart team said Glenn was a beloved brother and uncle, with the team saddened to lose their “best friend” and “wingman”. “Our families are in shock, struggling to come to terms with this immense grief,” they said. “It feels as though God must be waging great battles to call upon such a strong and beautiful soul like Glenn. We will forever miss his infectious smile, laughter, chats and hugs.” Glenn’s funeral will be held in Perth, with the Ebsary family inviting the community to attend a memorial in his home town at the Pemberton Sports Club on Wednesday February 19 from 7pm. The family thanked the community for its support, flowers, prayers, and love.
