A South West equestrian association is galloping into a new growth period and eager to welcome new members to the herd

The Yarloop Equestrian Association — formerly the Pinjarra Equestrian Association — is looking to welcome more people looking for a safe and enjoyable environment to take part in horse riding across a range of skills levels.

The non-for-profit group hosts multiple rallies each month on weekends and mid-week, with coaches from across the Shire of Harvey, at South West Horse Trail’s arena at Stanton Park.

Association member Sue Fimmano said they were expecting even more members with the cooler months approaching.

“Last year the club reached 70 members, most of whom reside in the Harvey shire, though some travel from surrounding regions to join in the rallies,” she said.

“There is something for everyone and the club invites anyone who has a horse to join.

“Even non-riders are welcome to come along, have a cuppa and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.”

Mrs Fimmano said the club was more than just a typical riding club. It encouraged members to meet, ride, learn and support each other in a fun, social setting, all while learning new skills.

She said the association had launched a new website to prepare for the expected influx and would even be selling merchandise in the coming weeks.

“In the meantime, updates on rallies, past event photos and general club news can be found on the Yarloop Equestrian Facebook page,” she said.

“For those interested in joining, membership forms are available on the Facebook page, with plans to introduce online memberships soon.”

Mrs Fimmano said several association members would be lending a hand at this year’s Harvey Show in the horse arenas for people who wanted to learn more in person.
