Australia Post opens expressions of interest for new post office operator in Gelorup and Dalyellup area

Australia Post has put the callout for a new Post Office operator in the Gelorup and Dalyellup area after Ampol’s decision to pull the plug on services at its Gelorup service station. The Ampol Foodary Gelorup on Bussell Highway is set to close the Gelorup Post Office on November 1 after deciding to hand back its licence. With the closure less than two months away, an Australia Post spokesperson confirmed it was now looking for a new operator for a Licensed Post Office in the area. “Running a Licensed Post Office is a rewarding way to provide services in the community, and local small business owners are encouraged to get in touch with us for more information by the end of September,” the spokesperson said. The service station post office had been a long-standing feature in Gelorup, with the nearest other full-service post office being located more than 5km away at the South Bunbury Marketplace shopping centre. The Australia Post spokesperson said the organisation was committed to maintaining the area’s postal services and had been working to investigate potential options. “Post Office box holders will be updated with new arrangements as soon as possible and we thank them for their patience,” the spokesperson said. “We would like to acknowledge the current Gelorup licensees for their service to the community, following their decision to hand back their postal licence from 1 November.” Those interested in operating a Post Office in the Gelorup and Dalyellup area are urged to contact wasa.rnp.admin@auspost.com.au.
