Pemberton angling club takes reins for third Pemberton Troutfest event
Pemberton’s annual trout event will return to Big Brook Dam on Sunday morning, with the Southern Forests Freshwater Angling Club taking the reins for the third iteration.
The Pemberton Troutfest will see rainbow and brown trout released at 10am with a children’s fishing clinic and fly casting lessons throughout the day.
More than 400 people attended the event last year.
Club president Simon Holland said the event had grown since its inception in 2022.
“It’s a great hit for the kids, and it’s far more than just a stocking event,” he said,.
“We’re starting to play a bigger part in organising the event, and we secured the last round of the Shire of Manjimup’s community funding, which will go towards advertising and running (the event).
“Recfish has taking a step back, and we’ll be doing a lot of the organising this year. We’ve managed to coincide it with the national Gone Fishing Day, which is celebrated all over Australia and is about the joys of fishing and the benefits of it.”
