Teen, 17, taken into custody after 78-year-old man dies from fatal crash between Ford Focus, mobility scooter

A teenager is in custody after an elderly man died when a car allegedly collided with his mobility scooter south of Brisbane. The Forensic Crash Unit is now probing the fatal crash after a white Holden Barina and a red Ford Focus collided on Anthony St in Kingston about 10.40am on Saturday. It is alleged the Ford Focus left the road and crashed into a mobility scooter. A 76-year-old Kingston man on the scooter was declared deceased at the scene, Queensland Police said in a statement. A teenager, 17, was taken into custody. No charges have been laid. “Initial investigations indicate a male and female, believed to be occupants of the Ford Focus, were observed leaving the scene on foot,” a Queensland Police spokesman said. “The driver and sole occupant of the Holden Barina was not physically injured.” Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV vision is urged to contact Queensland Police. Forensic Crash Unit investigations remain ongoing.
