As news of legendary pop singer Sinead O’Connor’s death sends shockwaves worldwide, a chilling final tweet may give an insight into the personal battle she may have been fighting.

O’Connor, a gifted Irish singer-songwriter who became a superstar in her mid-20s but was known as much for her private struggles and provocative actions as for her fierce and expressive music, lost her 17-year-old son, Shane, to suicide in 2022.

Mr O’Connor escaped a hospital, where he was on suicide watch, tragically taking his own life. In the aftermath, O’Connor reportedly struggled with her own mental health issues.

On July 17, in what is one of her final social media posts, O’Connor replied to a Twitter post from a page called Inspirational Posts’ thread asking, “Tell me how your life is going with emojis”.

“😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” she wrote, accompanying a picture of her and her son.
