Perth Wildcats centre Matt Hodgson and point guard Kevin White to miss NBL clash against Adelaide 36ers

Perth Wildcats centre Matt Hodgson will miss multiple games after injuring his calf against Tasmania and veteran Kevin White won’t suit up in Sunday’s clash against Adelaide due to personal reasons. Hodgson injured his calf late in Monday’s win and the club was hoping he’d avoid another setback in his frustrating season. But coach Scott Morrison doesn’t expect Hodgson to be back soon. “It will be a little bit of time. Maybe a couple of weeks. I’m not sure exactly,” Morrison said. “We’re not expecting him this week and he is already going to be questionable for the next road trip. “He’s having a tough go. He’s had a tough season for injuries and things creeping up. It’s tough to get into a groove and he finally put two really good games together which was great to see. “Now he’s going to have to try and put that on pause for when he gets back.” Morrison said the club had given White leave after the team’s nine weeks interstate and he would return when he’d dealt with some family issues. Vice-captain Mitch Norton will return from the blow to the head which sidelined him from the win over Tasmania. Hodgson’s injury puts pressure back on Majok Majok to re-discover the form he displayed earlier in the season. Majok averaged seven points and eight rebounds in the opening six games but those numbers have since plummeted. The Wildcats need Majok at his best given Adelaide lead the league for offensive rebounds, but Morrison said the big man had responded well to tough conversations. “I challenged him before the last game and to his credit I think he had one of his better showings in recent weeks. Hopefully he can build on that,” Morrison said. “As long as he brings great energy — he’s one of the best offensive rebounders in the league by minutes. He has that always, but he’s just got to bring great energy, sprint the floor, roll hard, get to his spots, be loud in his communication and I think he did a great job of all that stuff against Tasmania. “Everyone has ups and downs but I think he’s shown that he’s good to go and has contributed to a lot of good wins. It’s just a matter of making sure he does that every single night.”
