Health funding boost delivers across board

A massive $1.6 million has been granted to Bridgetown Hospital through the State Government Hospital Maintenance Blitz.

A total $7.34 million will be allocated to South West health services and hospitals as part of the Statewide $81.5 million initiative.

South West MLC Adele Farina welcomed the much-needed funding.

“Twelve South West hospitals and health facilities across the region will share in about $7.34 million of funding for maintenance works delivering improved facilities for patients,” Ms Farina said.

“This funding will also help to support our nurses and doctors in delivering the best health outcomes for patients and boost the South West economy with the required maintenance works and upgrades delivering local jobs.”

She said regional hospitals and health facilities were critical to delivering health care services to the surrounding communities.

“This investment in priority maintenance works will help to ensure these facilities continue to meet the needs of local residents,” Ms Farina said. “Collie and Bridgetown Hospitals received the largest funding allocation which will deliver significant upgrades for both hospitals.

“The funding will also deliver improvements to Nannup, Pemberton and Donnybrook hospitals and to the Northcliffe Nursing Post.”

Ms Farina said she was looking forward to visiting the facilities in the future to see how the funding had improved them.

“The maintenance funding will be allocated over the next three years and works across the South West will be prioritised on operational need, improving conditions for patients and staff and creating local employment opportunities,” she said.

“The funding will create work across a range of trades, creating opportunities for electricians, painters, plumbers, builders and carpenters.”
