New York nightclub mass shooting: 11 people reportedly injured after incident at Amazura Night Club in Queens
Just hours after 15 people were killed in a horrifying terror attack in New Orleans, 11 people have reportedly been injured in a mass shooting at a New York nightclub.
New York Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Amazura nightclub in Queens shortly after 11pm on Wednesday local time.
Videos on the popular personal safety network app Citizen showed shocked bystanders hiding in shops, with tables barricaded against windows and emergency services racing to control the situation.
The gunman is believed to have opened fire inside the nightclub, before firing additional shots outside the Amazura.
It is understood that 11 people were injured, with three victims taken to local hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Authorities have been heard on police radio discussing a search for the gunman, who is now on the run, as they look for other victims.
NYPD has not yet released a statement about the reported shooting.
The Amazura nightclub can hold up to 4000 people inside the venue.
It is understood that police do not believe any of the victims are at risk of losing their lives.
